Crispin Lofts:

OnFire create a loftier future for an iconic Leeds building

It’s big, it’s old and now it’s incredibly cool. Welcome to Crispin Lofts, previously a shoe factory known as Crispin House. One of the most iconic buildings in Leeds, we’re proud to have rebranded it as it was transformed by the Rushbond Group from an empty shell into chic New York loft style apartments with a gym and retail unit that is now a buzzing Brew Dog bar.

Just as the building has been brought back to life while keeping its heritage, so we did the same to create the new branding. With a stylish nod to the past, we commissioned the extremely skilled Peter Horridge, world famous calligrapher, typographer and illustrator take the traditional crest and bring it smack-bang up to date with the vibrant and eclectic feel of the Northern Quarter where the apartments are located. No easy task, especially as we wanted the building’s shoemaking past to be referenced. But, the result was everything we could have wished for and more

Indeed, as Karl Lakin, our Creative Director said, “The name ‘Crispin’ comes from St. Crispin, the patron saint of shoemaking and it provided a perfect branding platform to carry on the heritage, rather than create something plastic or unreal out of nothing.”

Jonathan Maud, Managing Director of Rushbond added, “The heritage of Crispin Lofts was important to us and OnFire approach has allowed us to pay homage to its past while building on the benefits this new development offers residents.”
